MASTICBOIS has several characteristics that makes it
different than the other polyester fillers.
It was made by an old furniture restorer who wanted to make this kind of
product suitable for the several different needs of its profession. He gave it fineness,
stability and the possibility to dye it before and/or after its polymerization.
It can be worked easily by tools or machine which allows the restoration
of furniture made of natural wood, marquetterie, old or modern woodworks. It can be used
for interiors or exteriors. It is Sunproof, waterproof and weatherproof. |
Can
be dyed |
| 1 before its application:
Take the quantity needed of MASTICBOIS for the
work to be done. It is recommended to take the "neutral" color and to make the
paste colored a little bit darker than the color to be done.
. with water dyes
It is recommended to take concentrated dyes, for example a walnut
dye (100 g of cassel extract for 1 L of water).
. with drawing inks
such as PEBEO "COLOREX" aquarelle
This gives a large panel of colors to use. For example: to fill a
green marqueterie gap, add green aquarelle ink and you will get a green MASTICBOIS.
. with decoration clays
Burnt Sienna clay, natural shade, red ocher, titanium white...
Add the necessary powders to get the needed color and mix them
together.
. with all pupose dyes
(paints)
After the preparation of MASTICBOIS with the
needed color, take the quantity needed for grain filling, put some hardener, mix them
together and apply by spatula.

after its application:
First, you must rub down MASTICBOIS before dying
it.
It is important to use the color of MASTICBOIS
that is the closest to the color to be done either with the 6 intermixable colors of MASTICBOIS
or by following the instuctions of the previous paragraph.
Can be dyed with water dyes, drawing inks such as PEBEO COLOREX
aquarelle, solvent dyes for wood, acrylic dyes, lasures, paints.
MASTICBOIS can undergo all kinds of finition:
wax, varnish, shellac, mattinas, sealer and, polyurethane, polyester and nitrobased
varnishes. |
Can be worked as wood without damaging tools |
Plane - Gouge - Chisel - Rasp - File - Machine
Can be easily drilled. Its rubbing is easy to
realize and you get a nice and very fine finish. |
Can glue |
| For
the restoration of very damaged wood, join the 2 parts with MASTICBOIS of
the same color. Hold the 2 parts tight for a few minutes. The parts to be glued must be
clean. |
Drying - Polymérization |
| Use 2%
of hardener (2 coffee grains for 1 spoon of MASTICBOIS). You can increase
or decrease the drying time by adding more or less hardener. the normal drying time is 10
to 15 minutes at a temperature of 20°C (68°f). When the weather is cold, the
drying time is longer, then you must increase the quantity of hardener. |
